| Obverse description | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, rendered in the Susanna Blunt portrait, with hair swept up and wearing a pearl necklace, occupying the central field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim and CANADA 300 DOLLARS along the upper right and right rim respectively. A stylized maple leaf privy mark incorporating the numerals 1812 appears below the effigy at the base of the field, commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812. The turbulent waters of Boston Harbour are rendered in the lower field between the hulls of the two vessels, while cannon smoke billows above the masts and rigging in the upper field.
