The Auto-moto Savez Jugoslavije was the Yugoslav automobile and motorcycle association — a federation-level body, not a bank, not a government ministry. Its issuing a 300 Dinara note in 1981 places this squarely in the world of Yugoslav bon scrip: internal vouchers used by clubs, enterprises, and social organizations to facilitate member transactions outside the formal banking system. Yugoslav self-management socialism generated an extraordinary proliferation of such instruments throughout the 1970s and 1980s, as thousands of organizations were legally permitted to issue their own payment media for specific, bounded purposes.
Whether this circulated as a fuel voucher, a membership credit, or something else entirely is not documented with certainty in the standard references.
