| Opmerkingen |
The 300,000,000 Drachmai notes issued by regional Bank of Greece branches in 1944 were a direct product of the hyperinflation that made central printing and distribution almost impossible to keep pace with. Greece's occupation-era inflation was among the worst in recorded monetary history — by late 1944, prices were doubling faster than the presses could respond, and branch-level authority to issue large denominations became a practical necessity rather than a policy choice.
The Agrinion branch signature of Γ. Φάνος as Branch Director distinguishes this from Athens-signed examples of the same Pick number. Regional director signatures on Greek occupation notes are not interchangeable — each signing authority represents a distinct issuing event.
