| Obverse description | Central device consists of the quartered coat of arms of Grand Master Manuel Pinto de Fonseca, combining the cross of the Order of St. John with the Pinto family arms bearing bezants arranged in orle, all set within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrolled mantling. The shield is surmounted by the crown of a Grand Master. The circular Latin legend reading F.EMMANUEL PIN:TO M·M·H·S·S· with the date 1768 runs along the periphery, separated by a mullet at the top, with a toothed border encircling the entire design. |
