Obverse description Within a linear circle, the quartered shield of Grand Master Juan de Homedes impaled with the cross of the Order of Saint John, surmounted by a Maltese cross. The surrounding legend, in Latin, reads the Grand Master's abbreviated title and name. The composition is typical of Renaissance hammered coinage produced under the Knights Hospitaller.
