| Obverse description | Equestrian effigy of King Charles I facing right, mounted on a prancing horse with rough ground beneath; the letter 'F' appears below the horse's hoof as a privy mark. A thistle is positioned at the commencement of the circumferential legend. The king is depicted in armor, holding a sword aloft, rendered in the bold relief characteristic of Scottish coinage of the period. The legend is separated by punctuation marks and runs along the full circumference within a beaded border. |

| Reverse description | The crowned quartered royal arms of Great Britain are displayed centrally, comprising the arms of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (lion rampant), France (three fleurs-de-lis), and Ireland (harp), supported by elaborate scrollwork and flanked by decorative mantling. The shield is surmounted by an arched imperial crown of fine workmanship. A thistle mark appears at the commencement of the circumferential legend, which is contained within a beaded inner border. The entire composition is executed in high relief consistent with the fine milling technique employed for this issue. |
