| Obverse description | The Portuguese Royal Arms displayed prominently in the central field, depicting the quartered escutcheon with the traditional five bezants arranged in saltire on the upper quarters and castles on the lower quarters, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The shield is set within a decorative mantling. No peripheral legend is present, the entire design being dominated by the crowned coat of arms characteristic of the reign of Queen Maria II. |

| Reverse description | The denomination numeral '30' appears prominently in the upper field, with '1/2' immediately below it, and a large capital letter 'T' (abbreviation for Tanga) beneath, all enclosed within a wreath of two laurel branches curving up from the base and meeting at the top of the design. The plain field provides a stark contrast to the boldly struck central numerals. |
