Obverse description Draped bust of King João V facing right, depicted in a stylized manner characteristic of colonial Portuguese coinage struck at the Goa mint. The effigy displays curled hair rendered in broad relief, with facial features indicated in a somewhat crude but expressive hammered style. No legend or inscription surrounds the bust, the field being plain. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered issues from this period.
