Beschrijving keerzijde Two draped saintly figures standing facing one another in the central field, separated by scattered pellets serving as decorative elements. The figure to the right raises both hands upward in a gesture of supplication or benediction, while the figure to the left stands facing right, holding an attribute and appearing to walk or advance toward the opposing saint. Both figures are rendered in the naive but expressive relief style characteristic of late sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century Italian hammered coinage. The peripheral legend, enclosed within a rope-pattern border, reads ✤ MONE · DA · QVATRINI · TRENTA, identifying the denomination as a coin of 30 quattrinos.

Aanvullende informatie

Francis Maria II della Rovere was the last Duke of Urbino, a ruler more interested in astronomy and philosophy than governance. He abdicated in 1621, ceding the duchy to Pope Gregory XV rather than allow it to pass through contested dynastic channels — ending over a century of della Rovere control of the territory. The papal absorption was largely bloodless, which was unusual for the period, and Urbino's mint effectively ceased meaningful independent production shortly after.

The fifty-year span attributed to this issue reflects the difficulty of dating Urbino coinage precisely within Francis Maria's reign.
