Obverse description Central field occupied by the quartered coat of arms of the della Rovere dynasty, surmounted by a ducal crown with prominent bobbles along its arches. The shield displays the heraldic charges of the duchy in four quarters, executed in relief typical of late Renaissance hammered coinage. A rope-pattern inner border frames the legend, which runs peripherally around the coin. The circular Latin legend reads · FRA · MARIA · II · VRB · DVX · VI · E, identifying Francis Maria II as the sixth Duke of Urbino. The flan is irregular, as characteristic of hammered silver issues of the period.
