Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered with exceptional artistic detail: the god is depicted mature and bearded, with long flowing curls framing a powerful profile, the laurel wreath prominent in his hair. A Thessalian helmet appears as a control symbol in the left field behind the head. The Greek legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ is distributed around the periphery of the field. The deeply incised high-relief portrait exemplifies the finest Syracusan die-cutting tradition of the late Classical period.

Reverse description Pegasus, the winged horse, depicted in full flight striding to the right with wings prominently spread and elevated above the body, rendered in bold relief. The musculature of the creature is carefully articulated, with the tail streaming behind and all four legs extended in a flying gallop. The abbreviated ethnic legend ΣΩ appears below the figure in the lower field. The composition fills the flan with dynamic energy characteristic of Syracusan coinage of the Timoleontic period.
