The legend identifying the Madonna as Patroness of the Kingdom of Hungary is arranged in four segments around the exterior of the square, with the date appearing alongside the mintmark. The design reflects the strong Marian devotional tradition of the Habsburg dynasty as expressed on Hungarian coinage of the period. |
