These 30 Kreuzer pieces were struck during the years immediately following the War of the Austrian Succession, in which Maria Theresa had fought to secure her Hungarian throne against Bavarian, French, and Prussian claimants. Hungarian magnates had pledged military and financial support at the Diet of Pressburg in 1741 — famously rallying to her cause — and the subsequent coinage from Hungarian mints reflects the administrative consolidation that followed. The Kremnitz mint carried the bulk of this production.
H#1693 and H#1694 represent distinct varieties within the type, differentiated by mintmaster marks.
