| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Arms of Augsburg — the distinctive pine cone emblem — set within an ornate oval cartouche adorned with scrollwork and foliate decoration. The date 16-22 is divided and appears on either side of the central shield, placed within the decorative surround. A beaded or toothed border runs along the outer rim of the coin. The overall design is characteristic of the debased Kipper-period emergency coinage, struck rapidly in a bold but somewhat crude style. No circumferential legend is present on this side. |
