Franz I of Lorraine held the imperial title largely as consort to Maria Theresa, who retained effective control of Habsburg hereditary lands. The "without X" designation in this series refers to a die variety lacking the ordinal numeral after the emperor's name — an inconsistency in the engraving that appeared across multiple mint facilities during this short emission window and was never formally corrected before the type was retired.
