| Obverse description | Printed in dark red-brown on cream paper, the obverse carries the issuer's name 'Gemeinde Stiftung bei Leonfelden' in Gothic lettering across the upper border. A central rural vignette illustrates a hay-laden ox-cart with a figure seated atop the load, set against a pastoral landscape; flanking lateral panels contain smaller vignettes of grazing sheep at left and poultry at right. The denomination '30' appears in large numerals at both lower corners, with 'Dreißig Heller' and a circular '30' medallion in the upper denomination panel, and the validity inscription 'Gültig bis 31. Dezember 1920.' runs along the lower border. |

Leonfelden — today Bad Leonfelden, a small health resort town in Upper Austria near the Bohemian border — issued this Notgeld through its community foundation during the severe coin shortage that persisted in Austria well after the First World War ended. The Gemeinde Stiftung, a charitable municipal trust rather than a conventional municipal authority, is an unusual issuer even by the eclectic standards of Austrian Notgeld.
The Jaksch/Pick reference places this in a well-documented regional series, but foundation-issued pieces were never produced in large runs.
