Rindlberg is a small locality in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of similarly sized municipalities, it issued Notgeld during the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria between roughly 1920 and 1922. These emergency community issues were authorized under wartime and immediate postwar provisions that gave local administrations the right to print their own fractional currency when the central monetary system simply could not supply enough small change. Franz Wagner's signature as issuing official gives this particular variant its "IIc" sub-designation within the Jaksc/Pick sequence.
The 30 Heller denomination sits at the upper end of the typical Rindlberg series, suggesting it was intended to cover transactions a single 10 or 20 Heller note could not.
