Kreisbach is a small Lower Austrian village that, like hundreds of similarly modest municipalities, was forced into issuing its own emergency currency after the collapse of the Habsburg state left the region without adequate small-change supply. The Gutenberg press in St. Pölten handled a significant share of these Lower Austrian Notgeld contracts, which accounts for the consistent production quality across many otherwise unrelated village issues from this period.
Three signatories — mayor, deputy mayor, and finance officer — authenticated this note, an unusually formal arrangement for a denomination this small.
