| Beschrijving voorzijde | The left half of the note carries a letterpress vignette of a two-storey commercial building rendered in dark ink against a plain background, surrounded by an ornamental border of oak-leaf sprays. To the right, a classical male figure wearing a winged helmet and holding a caduceus — an allegory of Mercury — is seated above a rectangular tablet bearing the issuer inscription in Gothic script. The denomination numeral "30" appears in a dotted oval cartouche at lower right, with validity and anti-counterfeiting notices in German Kurrent script running along the lower margin. |

Irdning is a small market town in the Enns valley of Styria, and this 30 Heller note is a Kriegsgeld — wartime emergency money issued by a local business rather than a municipal authority. Fa. August Dangl, at the time under proprietor F. Schneider, was almost certainly a general merchant or hardware dealer; Austrian Kleingeld shortages after 1914 pushed countless small traders into the role of unofficial money printers, with varying degrees of official tolerance from district authorities.
Notes of this type rarely survived in quantity — they were redeemed locally, worn out quickly, or simply discarded once the shortage eased.
