Opmerkingen

Brixlegg's notgeld issues of 1920 were driven by the acute small-change shortage that followed the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system — the new Austrian Republic simply could not mint or distribute coin fast enough to meet local needs. Hundreds of Austrian municipalities printed their own emergency fractional notes during this window, and Brixlegg was one of the Tyrolean towns that moved quickly to cover the gap at the lowest denominations.

The 30 Heller value is among the more practical of the fractional issues — enough to make change for small transactions without the near-worthless 1 and 2 Heller pieces that some communities printed largely for collector trade.
