| Opmerkingen |
Maria Laah is a small village in Lower Austria, and this 30 Heller Notgeld note belongs to the enormous wave of municipal emergency currency issued across Austria between 1919 and 1921 when small-denomination coins vanished entirely from circulation following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monetary system. Thousands of Ortsgemeinden — parishes, market towns, villages — printed their own. Most were produced in tiny runs by regional printers, with local officials signing them by hand.
Franz Ensgraber's signature here likely indicates a serving municipal administrator rather than a printer. The Jaksch/Pick 0585 reference places this within the standard Austrian Notgeld census, though completeness of that catalog for minor rural issues is uneven.
