The "Tiger" epithet belongs to Georges Nkashama, a Congolese footballer whose nickname fueled this issue as part of the DRC's broader program of silver sports commemoratives released around the time of African Cup of Nations cycles. These collector-market issues were never intended for circulation and were largely sold through European wholesale distributors — a common arrangement for DRC commemoratives, where the revenue flows to contracted minting agents rather than directly to the state treasury.
