Obverse description Central to the obverse is a stylized frontal effigy of a youthful figure with flowing wavy hair, rendered in a modernist artistic style evoking ancient Mesoamerican or classical influence. Radiating from behind the head is a bold sunburst of elongated rays that extends to the coin's raised rim, lending a strong decorative effect to the field. To the lower left of the effigy appear the five interlocked Olympic rings, while the date 1968 is positioned to the lower right. The legend MEXICO arcs along the bottom of the coin in large raised Latin letters.
