Clouds and celestial elements are depicted in the upper field above the cityscape, lending a grandiose allegorical quality to the scene. A cartouche at the top of the field bears the Latin inscription TIGURUM, the classical name for Zürich. The engraver's initials HG are subtly placed within the composition. The entire scene is framed within the coin's raised border, demonstrating the virtuoso craftsmanship of engraver Hans Jakob Gessner.
