| Obverse description | Bare-headed youthful effigy of King Ferdinand II facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and strong classical profile. The divided Latin legend runs along the left and right periphery, with FERDINANDVS II. on the left and DEI GRATIA REX on the right. The date 1831 appears in the lower exergue below the truncation. The portrait is executed in a neoclassical style characteristic of early Bourbon Restoration coinage of the Two Sicilies. A fine milled border encircles the entire obverse. |
