| Additional information |
Issued to commemorate William V.S. Tubman's unprecedented sixth consecutive presidential term, this coin was struck the same year Liberia amended its constitution to remove term limits entirely — a provision engineered specifically to keep Tubman in office. He had governed since 1944, and by 1965 his administration controlled virtually every institutional lever in the country.
The thirty-dollar denomination corresponds directly to his years in office at the time of issue — a vanity denomination with no precedent in Liberian monetary history.
