The Vantage Point series deploys extreme high relief to create layered depth across a single design field — a technique the Royal Canadian Mint has refined aggressively since the mid-2010s, when it began competing directly with the Perth Mint on premium collector issues. Elizabeth II's appearance on a 2023 Canadian coin is a posthumous authorization; she died in September 2022, and the RCM had already committed the obverse portrait to a production run that her death could not practically halt.
