| Reverse description | A stylised, cartoon-style rooster rendered in a playful artistic manner occupies the centre-left of the field, depicted standing with prominent tail feathers fanning to the left and an expressive, rounded body facing right. To the right of the rooster, a large Chinese character 福 (meaning 'prosperity' or 'good fortune') is enclosed within a decorative cartouche, with sunburst rays emanating behind it. The denomination $30 appears in the lower right field. The inscription 1/5oz 9999 GOLD curves along the upper rim, and the Perth Mint privy mark P is visible to the left of the rooster near the lower field. |

| Additional information |
Tuvalu has no meaningful gold reserves and no independent monetary policy of its own — it uses the Australian dollar for everyday transactions. Its coin program exists entirely as a licensed revenue stream, with issues like this one produced by the Perth Mint under a longstanding arrangement that lets Tuvalu lend its name to collectibles it will never circulate. The Lunar Series targeting Chinese New Year buyers has been a reliable commercial formula for Perth since the 1990s.
The 2017 issue corresponds to the Year of the Rooster, the tenth animal in the twelve-year cycle.
