| Beschrijving keerzijde | A finely detailed depiction of a Leopard Seal shown in a curving, upright pose facing right, its spotted body rendered against an underwater scene featuring air bubbles rising in the field and a starfish resting on the seabed at lower right. A stylised wave crests behind the animal, adding depth and naturalism to the composition. The legend LEOPARD SEAL arcs across the upper border, while AUSTRALIAN ANTARCTIC TERRITORY curves along the lower periphery. The Perth Mint's P mintmark appears at the lower left, and the designer's initials AH are found at lower right. |

Perth Mint launched its Australian Platinum Coin program in 2011, targeting institutional and private bullion investors in a market then dominated almost entirely by the American Platinum Eagle and Canadian Maple Leaf. The one-third troy ounce denomination — an awkward fraction commercially — was never the program's flagship, and annual mintages for these fractional issues have remained low enough that later-date examples are genuinely underproduced relative to collector demand.
The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint for bullion issues beginning in 2019.
