| Beschrijving voorzijde | The third effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Raphael Maklouf, faces right wearing the King George IV State Diadem, with a strand of pearls at the neck. The truncation of the bust is bare. The legend arcs around the upper periphery, reading ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 30 DOLLARS, with the designer's initials RDM appearing below the portrait. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The 1kg Kookaburra series began in 1990 as Perth Mint's push into the competitive bullion market dominated at the time by the Canadian Maple Leaf and American Eagle. The $30 denomination is a legal tender face value assigned purely for technical reasons — no one has ever spent one. Each year carries a new kookaburra reverse design, which distinguishes the series from most bullion programs and drives date-by-date collector demand well above melt.
The 1995–1996 issues used Ian Rank-Broadley's third portrait of Elizabeth II, introduced that year across Australian coinage before its wider Commonwealth adoption.
