The Perth Mint's annual lunar series has run continuously since 1996, making it one of the longest-unbroken bullion programs of any sovereign mint. Each twelve-year cycle commands a collector premium over spot that the first cycle, in hindsight, entirely failed to anticipate — early issues from the 1990s now trade well above their original release prices. The Horse year has historically posted among the strongest secondary-market performances within the series, partly driven by demand from East and Southeast Asian buyers for whom the Horse carries specific astrological significance.
