Obverse description Two interlaced Ls beneath a royal crown, flanked by three fleurs-de-lis arranged two above and one below, all within a beaded border. The crowned double-L monogram of Louis XIV occupies the central field in high relief. The peripheral Latin legend, interrupted by the date, identifies the king as ruler of France and Navarre. The design is crisp and emblematic of the late Louis XIV milled coinage style.
