Reverse description The reverse displays the Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the royal shield of Portugal at its center, a classical colonial coinage device used throughout Portuguese overseas territories. The shield features the traditional quinas and castles arrangement characteristic of the Portuguese arms. The legend TIMOR arcs across the upper field in large bold letters, flanked on either side by small floral ornaments, while the date 1958 is inscribed along the lower arc. A continuous beaded border encircles the entire design.
