Additional information

Cambodia's tiger population is functionally extinct — the last confirmed wild sighting was recorded in 2007 in the Cardamom Mountains, and no breeding population has been documented since. This issue was produced in coordination with conservation bodies working in the Mekong subregion, where habitat fragmentation and poaching pressure eliminated the species from a range it had occupied for millennia.

The National Bank of Cambodia has issued collector gold on environmental themes sporadically since the 2010s, typically in limited runs directed at the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation.
