| Additional information |
Burkina Faso has issued coin-shaped objects under BCEAO authorization since the 1990s, but this piece — 3 kilograms of fine silver at 150mm across — sits firmly in the category of private mint fantasy production sold entirely to the collector market. No 30,000 franc denomination has ever circulated in Burkina Faso or anywhere in the CFA franc zone. The nominal face value is purely nominal in the most theatrical sense: the BCEAO's highest circulating denomination is 500 francs.
Issues of this type were typically contracted through European private mints, with the issuing nation lending its name in exchange for a licensing fee.
