The Twenty-Four Solar Terms series draws from the ancient lunisolar calendar system formally inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2016. Start of Winter — *Lìdōng* — marks the point when the sun reaches 225° ecliptic longitude, traditionally signaling the withdrawal of agricultural labor and the beginning of food preservation and storage preparations across northern China.
Each release in this series pairs a specific term with associated folk customs. The 3 Yuan denomination was introduced specifically for this program, with the low face value functioning purely as legal tender formality on a collectible.
