| Obverse description | Four Chinese characters arranged in a cruciform layout around a central sunburst motif: 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo), reading top-right-bottom-left in the traditional manner. The reign title 紹治 (Thiệu Trị) occupies the top and bottom positions, while 通寶 (Thông Bảo, meaning 'current treasure') appears to the right and left. The central device is a radiating sun with finely cast rays. The coin's rim is decorated with a continuous milled or rope-pattern border. |

| Reverse description | A highly stylized imperial dragon rendered in bold relief, depicted in a dynamic coiling posture occupying nearly the entire field. The dragon displays characteristic Vietnamese artistic conventions: a scaled body with prominent claws, flowing whiskers, an open mouth, and swirling cloud and flame motifs surrounding the figure. The composition is densely worked with fine cast detail throughout, and the milled border continues from the obverse around the full circumference of the reverse. |
