| Obverse description | Central square hole framed by a raised square border, around which four large Chữ Nôm/Chinese characters are arranged in the traditional four-directional layout: 嗣 (top), 通 (right), 寶 (left), and 德 (bottom), reading 嗣德通寶 — the reign title and denomination legend of Emperor Tự Đức. The characters are rendered in bold relief against a flat field. A raised rim encircles the entire design. |
