| Описание реверса | The central field displays the coat of arms of Zürich — per pale azure and argent — prominently positioned within a cruciform arrangement of nine surrounding escutcheons. The nine shields bear the arms of the subject territories and associated lordships of Zürich, identified as Kyburg, Grüningen, Regensberg, Eglisau, Greifensee, Andelfingen, Knonau, Wädenswil, and Laufen, arranged in an orderly heraldic pattern around the central shield. The reverse legend, rendered in Latin, carries a devotional invocation. The overall design is characteristic of the elaborate presentation klippe coinage struck for ceremonial purposes in sixteenth-century Swiss civic mints. |

The klippe format — square, struck on a cut planchet — was reserved almost exclusively for presentation and display purposes, not everyday exchange. Zürich produced these in vanishingly small numbers, and the 1559 issue almost certainly commemorates a civic occasion rather than serving any monetary function. Which occasion remains debated among specialists.
Hürlimann 400 is among the rarer citations in the series. Davenport's EC I listing acknowledges the type but offers little on surviving population — estimates from auction appearances over the past four decades suggest single digits.
