| 裏面の説明 | Elaborate six-fold heraldic achievement of the Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel arms, of larger format, enclosed within a foliate wreath. A wildman stands to each side of the shield; the figure to the left holds an imperial orb, while the figure to the right bears a lit candle. The entire composition is contained within two concentric margin bands carrying the surrounding legend. |

The Juliuslöser takes its name from Duke Julius of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, who introduced this extraordinary multiple-thaler series beginning in 1574 as a vehicle for political display and personal glorification rather than everyday exchange. These pieces were struck as Schaugepräge — showpieces — distributed as diplomatic gifts and awarded to courtiers, never intended to pass through a merchant's hands.
Julius died in 1589, making this 1588 striking among the final issues produced under his direct patronage.
