Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of George Frederick I, Margrave of Brandenburg, facing three-quarters to the right, with the right arm raised to bear a mace over the shoulder. The figure is depicted in detailed Renaissance-era plate armor. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust within the coin's field.

Reverse description A floriated cross occupies the central field, with the quartered Hohenzollern arms displayed at the center. A small heraldic shield of arms is placed in each of the four angles formed by the cross. The date 1599 appears at the top, reading outward and divided by the mintmaster's symbol. The Latin Biblical legend commences at the upper right and runs around the perimeter of the coin.
