The figure is set within a plain inner circle against a broad, unadorned field. A continuous circumferential legend in German surrounds the design, incorporating the date ANNO 1624, and reading WAS IHR SVCHT DAS FINDT IHR ANNO. 1624 O IHR NARREN IN ALLER WEIS. The lettering is rendered in the characteristic early seventeenth-century Germanic style, with the moralistic inscription completing the thematic pairing with the obverse regarding mankind's vain pursuit of wealth.
