Obverse description Quartered shield of arms of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt surmounted by a crown, the quarters bearing alternately the cross of the Order of St. John and three fleurs-de-lis of the Wignacourt family arms. The denomination numeral '3' appears to the right of the shield within the field. The entire device is encircled by a beaded inner border, with the circular legend arranged around the periphery in Latin.

Reverse description A large eight-pointed Maltese cross occupies the central field, its points formed by V-shaped indentations giving the arms a faceted, star-like appearance. The date is divided into four parts and placed in the four angles between the arms of the cross. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the surrounding circular Latin legend, which runs along the full periphery of the coin.
