| 背面描述 | A dynamic equestrian composition depicts the nimbate Emperor Magnentius in full military attire, his cloak billowing behind him, mounted on a prancing stallion stepping to the right with head raised upward. With his outstretched right hand the emperor raises the personification of Republica, a turreted and draped female figure bowing to the left, her own cloak billowing behind, holding a cornucopia in her left hand along with the end of her cloak, with the opposing end of her cloak gathered in her right hand. The reverse legend proclaims Magnentius as liberator of the Republic, and the exergue carries the mintmark with officina designation. This ambitious, multi-figure reverse type is one of the most iconographically elaborate compositions of the Later Roman Empire. |
