Reverse description The field features a stylised map of the world's continents as a background, over which two athletes in walking-race posture are depicted on a track. To the right of the central design, the inscription «Г. ЧЕБОКСАРЫ» (City of Cheboksary) identifies the host city, and the date «2008» appears below the figures. Arcing along the upper rim on a matted surface, the legend «КУБОК МИРА ПО СПОРТИВНОЙ ХОДЬБЕ» (World Walking-Race Cup) frames the composition.

Additional information

Russia hosted the 2008 IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Cheboksary, a city in the Chuvash Republic that has long positioned itself as the country's athletics capital — it also hosted the 2000 edition of the same event. The choice of Cheboksary was no coincidence; the region has produced a disproportionate number of elite race walkers relative to its size, a point of considerable local pride that the Russian federation leveraged when lobbying for the hosting rights.
