| 表面の説明 | At center of the mirror-finish proof field stands the double-headed eagle emblem of the Bank of Russia, displayed with wings spread and talons extended, rendered in high relief against the polished background. The denomination ТРИ РУБЛЯ (Three Roubles) arcs along the upper legend, while БАНК РОССИИ (Bank of Russia) curves along the lower portion, both separated from the central device by a beaded inner border. The date 2010 Г. appears at the bottom of the field, flanked by the fineness designation Ag 925 on the left and the Moscow Mint monogram (ММД) with the weight indicator 31.1 on the right, all within the beaded circle. |

Russia hosted the 39th Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk in September 2010, a city in western Siberia that had become an unlikely hub for elite chess partly through the aggressive patronage of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug government. Over 150 national teams participated. The Russian team, despite the home advantage, finished fourth — a result the domestic press received poorly.
