Obverse description At center, the double-headed eagle — the official emblem of the Bank of Russia — is depicted with wings spread, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The eagle bears no shields or regalia, consistent with the Bank of Russia institutional device rather than the full state coat of arms. Surrounding the central device is a beaded inner border. The Cyrillic legend ТРИ РУБЛЯ arcs across the upper field, while БАНК РОССИИ curves along the lower field. Below the eagle, the date 2008 Г. is inscribed, flanked by the fineness mark АГ 925 to the left and the weight indicator 31,1 to the right, with the mint engraver's mark also present.
