| Reverse description | The standing figure of Minerva, goddess of wisdom and patroness of sciences, crafts, arts, and peaceful labour, dominates the left portion of the design. To the right, an open book displays in its upper pages the left-facing profiles of Peter the Great (founder of the Academy) and two prominent scientists, identified by the two-line inscription below: «ПЁТР I ЭЙЛЕР ЛОМОНОСОВ». In the lower right portion of the book, a view of the Academy of Sciences buildings is depicted. Above the open book, a crowned double-headed eagle is shown as a decorative heraldic element.
