The Sevastyanov House in Yekaterinburg is one of the most extravagant examples of Russian eclectic architecture surviving in the Urals — a private mansion so ostentatiously remodeled in the 1860s that local clergy reportedly complained the owner had outspent the nearby cathedral. The building passed through several Soviet-era incarnations, including use as a workers' club, before a state restoration completed just prior to this coin's issue prepared it to host foreign dignitaries during the 2008 SCO and BRIC summits held in Yekaterinburg.
