| Aanvullende informatie |
Part of the Bank of Russia's long-running series of issues drawing on Russian folklore, this coin belongs to a category that has drawn consistent collector interest since the 1990s — not for rarity, but because the series as a whole documents the institutionalization of numismatic collecting in post-Soviet Russia. The Firebird, or Zhar-Ptitsa, is one of the oldest recurring figures in East Slavic mythology, appearing across medieval byliny and later in the fairy tales collected and published by Alexander Afanasyev in the 1850s.
Mintage on these folklore issues was typically capped at 3,000 pieces for the proof format.
